Scintilla is a UK and European Patent Attorney firm. We put innovators in control of their destiny by organising, optimising and monetising their intellectual property. Our unique commercial approach combines registration of patents and trade marks with strategic input so that IP can be a springboard for business growth.

We work with a diverse range of clients, from startups through to large global corporations and in a wide range of business and technology sectors.

Our culture is to be: Down to Earth, Authentic, Compassionate, Visionary and Resolute.

Our values are expressed in our commitments and accolades:

  • Diversity and inclusion: we are members of the IP Inclusive network which supports and promotes equality, diversity and inclusion in the IP professions, and we support various charities including local homelessness and refugee charities.
  • The innovation community: we are committed to our local community of innovators, as seen in our links and active participation with various startup organisations and our corporate sponsorship of the trade organisation Technology Scotland, the Filament Smart Things Accelerator Centre startup incubator, the Greenbackers cleantech investment platform and the ABC Women in Cyber & Tech group.
  • Industry Recognition: we are proud to have been recommended in the prestigious IAM listings of the top 1000 patent professionals, and in the IP Stars ranking of Managing IP.

Our work includes various matters in the fields of patents, trade marks, registered designs and in general innovation advisory services. We get closely involved with our clients’ businesses to help them make commercially savvy IP decisions that deliver real value.
