Team Scintilla have been globe trotting this past couple of months.

From Dr Iain McCrindle‘s trip to California, our team away day mid-March, our many trips to London, and indeed all around the UK, there has been barely a day where the whole team have been in the office.

Our most recent trip to the capital saw Scintilla’s founder Pete and Director of Strategy, Suzanne, heading to London for the Greenbacker’s investment event to hear from companies seeking advice & investment.

Sending one of our team further afield, we sent our Trade Mark Attorney, Kirsten Coetzee, across the pond to Atlanta, Georgia. However, it was not to aid in the fight against The Walking Dead, but for the INTA conference. As a first time attendee, Kirsten gave us a breakdown of his experience, below.

How Was Your First Experience of INTA? You’ve Never Been Before, Right?

I was fortunate enough to attend the 146th Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) in May.  This year’s meeting was held in Atlanta, Georgia, the birthplace of one of the most famous trade secrets, Coca-Cola.

The INTA Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of trade mark (and some patent) professionals globally, with more than 9,500 registrants attending the Atlanta meeting.

INTA is a great opportunity to meet attorneys based in other countries with which you work on a regular basis, but only get to correspond with via email during the rest of the year. It allows us to meet new people and expand our  networks of associates.

What Makes This Conference Stand Out For You?

Communicating through technology, whether by email or video conferencing, is an easy and effective way of working with attorneys in other countries; however, there is tremendous value in meeting people in person when it comes to forming relationships.  Attending INTA has definitely reinforced this for me.

Although meeting new people is always nice, meeting and building relationships with trade mark attorneys based in other countries is a vital part of being able to provide the best possible service for our UK based clients, to help them protect and safeguard their rights globally, knowing that our clients are in safe hands.
